Version 0.60 out

Version 0.60 is now out. It fixes three reported things: bell character crashing mIRGGI (also probably helps with other crashes), closing window after disconnect won't crash and the activity squares are of different color.

Version 0.59 out (minor)

Version 0.59 is out. The only change is a fix to the Latin2 encoding. You don't need to update if you don't use it.

Version 0.58 out

Note: The installer may say it's 0.56 or 0.57 but when starting it'll say 0.58.

I've released version 0.58 now. A few fixes:

Added /wii <nick> to be /whois <nick> <nick>

Changed some server messages to be a lot clearer

Idle time in /whois is shown in weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds, not just as a number jumble

Writing to a moderated channel without voice shows the error message in the correct window

In lists (nick etc) left/right should jump 10 names forward/backward

Settings should be saved better when changing things on multiple tabs

Latin2 encoding added

So, a bit more things this time. Hope you like it!

And you can add the most annoying bugs/important feature requests to this message so I can check if they can be done soon.

(The crash with Join channel on menu is annoying, but I can't reproduce it. I'm also trying to find some other problems that have been reported)

Version 0.57 out

Didn't have time to do more than backup/restore settings (copies mirggi.ini to/from the root of the memory card) and the fix for the NickServ crash. I'll check the other bug reports etc soon.

Next version coming soon (no, really :)

So, I said I haven't forgotten thee, and it's true. I've finally found some time to fix at least a couple of bugs and implement some features.

There were two places where mIRGGI could crash when receiving an empty message. At least NickServ on freenode did this and this is now fixed.

Also I'll add the long-awaited feature: backup/restore of settings. In the next version you can copy the settings to the root of the memory card and also restore them from there. This way you don't have to lose all settings if you have to reinstall mIRGGI, or you want to transfer settings to another phone!

Some other things will probably also get done, but we'll see tomorrow. In the morning I have an MCP exam, but after that I should have some time to do things. So just wait for 24 hours or so and you'll get it :)

I have not forgotten thee

I haven't responded in a while here, that's just because I've been totally busy with other work. I'll try to get a newly signed version of the application on the site soon, it might require removing the old before installing, but that's not a problem for first-time installers.

I hope I'll get also some fixes and new features done soon, but I can't promise anything at the moment :(

Version 0.56 out

I added support for showing messages on top of other programs for private messages in mIRGGI. Should work on 2nd and 3rd ed, not tested that much.

Also, there are no vibrations, sounds, light going on or dot turning red if the action on a channel is just a join, topic change, mode change etc. Only messages will cause notifications.

Oh, and at the moment the query window that is selected in mIRGGI won't cause messages, even if mIRGGI is in the background. This will be fixed in the next version, as well as a setting for the notification.

Version 0.55 out

I've just released version 0.55 (changed the versioning since 2nd ed phones don't show the third part of the version). It adds support to /quote command and also fixes the problem with the process hanging after exit. Thanks for the reports.

There are also some other minor changes but nothing noticeable. Those of you that only got the flash and mIRGGI didn't start, please report if this version works better.

Also the volume keys scroll the screen, even while input box is open. This should work in all 2nd and 3rd ed devices that have dedicated volume keys. This is why the installer says it can read user data. It doesn't read anything else, only the button data. Don't understand why getting info about multimedia buttons is "reading user data"...

Version 0.5.3 out

I released version 0.5.3. It fixes the problem when using the "Don't update screen while scrolling" that you have to reopen and close the input box to get any output. It also features a treat for qwerty users: you can just start typing and the input box will open. Note: there is probably a bug in all devices: the second letter is capitalized (I must try to learn how the FEP stuff works to fix this).

This version also features a jazzy new icon, also for 2nd edition! Thanks to Kyyhe for the icon!

Version 0.5.2 out

Ok, just decided to take some time to get the last version done for this year. This fixes the problem with /query not opening windows, adds French translation (thanks Bruno!), fixes the previous written texts (up/down in input box), adds a setting to disable screen updating while typing (so you are not realtime, but you don't miss characters or words while typing).

Can't remember if there's anything else but give it a try. I'll continue to add more features someday when I don't have so much other work to do.

Version 0.5.1 out

Ok, I finally got the 0.5.1 version out. There was some problem with compiling and getting it to run, but after installing Carbide.c++ 1.3 beta it seems to work just fine.

This one fixes the problem with empty lines (very apparent with im.bitlbee.org), adds support for Slovenian language (thanks Tadej!) and also fixes the previously written lines -buffer.

Good Excuse Not to Release 0.5.1

Now I finally have a plausible excuse why I haven't released 0.5.1 yet, although I have made a couple of fixes weeks ago. Macbook Ate My Hard Drive. Crap.

Another thing is that when using the debugger I get one panic, on the device another. So the whole project doesn't run at the moment. Crappety crap.

Version 0.5 out

Ok, I've released version 0.5 now (gotcha, you were all waiting for 0.4.99, weren't you? ;)

Fixed are problems with more than 9 channels (a small crash...) and less lagging than in 0.4.98, but should have at least a little less missing characters than previously.

Enjoy, now I will probably have a little break, I'm going for a week to London, so I might not be updating mIRGGI that much during that time.

And those of you that already downloaded 0.5, I've updated it a bit so it might not be the latest version.

Version 0.4.98 out

Ok, now I fixed the button labels (they're shown only in landscape mode, so more space for portrait mode), there is a setting for backlog size (default 15k, previously 7k), tried to remove even more of the missing letters when typing while channel activity, keepalive setting is actually saved. Maybe something more, dunno. Also updated some translations.

Test it and shout if it doesn't work. Hopefully this'll be working well and we'll get 0.5 out :)

And I noticed that my version control wasn't working due to network problem so I uploaded a wrong version. So I'll update this as 0.4.98b, please make sure you have that version when downloading (it says 0.4.98b only after you start it).

And 0.4.98c released, fixes colors in topics.

Version 0.4.97 out

Version 0.4.97 is out. It fixes problems with Connect/Disconnect menus, joined channels actually go to the Join Channel -menu (and are saved for use the next time you connect), pinging works, settings are tabbed (thanks for all that reminded me about this, it's a lot better now!), server deletion works correctly and whatnot.

So a lot of fixes, hopefully this one works better.

Oh, and the problem with Polish language is also fixed, the language file was missing and Carbide.VS messed the package file so that my fallback couldn't find English language so mIRGGI wouldn't even start :P

Note If you can't upgrade, remove old version and install the new. I'm sorry about this, it seems that even though I have the same certificate files on several computers, sometimes the signature changes and the phone won't recognize the new package as the same application :P

Version 0.4.96 out

Version D fixes server setting problems.

I've released version 0.4.96. This version does NOT have Messenger support available yet. It does have several other things though (I've probably forgot a lot from the list and some might not work well):

Windows are reused if server connection breaks and you reconnect

Server windows can't be closed (should be: if connected, I'll fix it later)

away shows correct infos and in correct windows

Menu for joining 10 last channels for each server

Menu item for joining to a new channel

/nick newnick will update the nick that is shown to you

server name shown in main window

URL detector should find also URLs starting with www. and not http://

Keepalive for IRC (not well tested)

Vibration error fix

Some other minor fixes and changes

The b version fixes some problems with menus, nothing that big yet. I'll list all the changes (don't have access to version control now) later on.

I haven't tested this thoroughly yet. 0.4.96d 3rd edition 0.4.96d 2nd edition (FP0/1) 0.4.96d 2nd edition (FP2/3)

Some have mentioned about update errors. If you don't want to lose your settings, wait a while and I'll retest updating.

mIRGGI feat. mEZE

Yes, I know. I told you I wouldn't do any new features, just concentrate on fixing bugs. But I couldn't help it. I've started doing MSN Messenger support for mIRGGI. It already can connect to the server and chat with people, but it will probably crash if the connection is closed or anything is done. So even if I release it (I might not enable it in the next versions until it works better), it's like "if you use it, don't come crying if mIRGGI crashes, but do tell me what happened so I can fix it."

So the main focus is on IRC functionality and stability, MSN Messenger is just a bonus feature at the moment. And I'm doing it because I personally talk to a couple of my friends only on Messenger. So this way I can chat with all my friends at the same time on the same application.

Also I know I said that 0.5 will be great and I won't release it until this and that and whatnow. But I won't do that either. I'll release 0.5 soon because so much has changed and I'll develop the whole thing further from there on. And I won't fear the higher version numbers anymore :)

I hope this is a good thing for many and if you don't use Messenger, you won't even see it in mIRGGI. And the memory consumption isn't that big either.

Oh yes, if someone's wondering what about ICQ or GTalk or Jabber or... I do have code done for ICQ in C# so I could port that but since I don't personally use it, I won't be doing that at the moment, unless there's a huge demand for it. And GTalk, Jabber etc are the same.

Version 0.4.95 out

I've just released version 0.4.95. This includes some minor fixups but also one big thing: multiple server connections.

This version crashes easily if you connect, connection fails and then you disconnect etc. So don't expect it to be rock stable. But otherwise connect/disconnect work quite well. Also you can close server windows, they have no titles etc, these will be fixed.

Also the previously mentioned softbutton things, 2nd edition skin problems etc are not fixed.

Now I'll concentrate on trying to fix bugs and not add that many features anymore to get 0.5 out. I'm so anxious to get working on the new features that'll be on 0.6 :)
