mIRGGI - The First S60 3rd Edition IRC Client

Version 0.62 should now fix the problems with 5th edition. I had to change the volume keys to function as channel changing buttons since 5800 XpressMusic has no other usable buttons. Settings for servers work (they worked before if you changed them, clicked left and then back) and I changed the default colors to white background and black text.

Otherwise it's the same as 0.61 and 0.60, so only 5th edition users have to update.

To type in, you have to click the input line (I know it's a bit small, I'll make it larger), write with the virtual keyboard and press enter on the virtual kb to send it.

Ok, I finally got my head messed up enough to figure out why the settings weren't working on the 5th edition devices. It's now fixed in 0.61. You can get the versions from the normal locations, 5th edition is at http://5th.mirggi.net/ from now on.

There are no major changes in this version, mainly the 5th edition compatibility and update to the Estonian translation (thanks Henrik!)

Oh, and naturally the certificate thingy is fixed. No need to change dates on your phones to install. Sorry for the delay :(

Text input on 5th edition seems "a bit" shaky, I'll try to fix it now!

First of all, I do apologize for being so quiet for so long. I haven't been well and haven't been able to update mIRGGI for some time now. I hope I'll be able to continue developing it soon.

Some things I know you're wondering:

• The self-signed certificate has expired, so you need to change the date on your phone if you want to install it. I'll try to get a new package up soon
• The 3rd edition version "works" on the 5th edition, but as we all know: Nokia's/Symbian's promises about compatibility are always overrated. For some reason the settings don't show up at all even though the code is exactly as Nokia's own examples show. Also it's not nice to use mIRGGI when the soft key labels are not visible. I'll try to fix this soon.

Hope you'll understand my situation and mIRGGI is definitely NOT dead!

Version 0.60 is now out. It fixes three reported things: bell character crashing mIRGGI (also probably helps with other crashes), closing window after disconnect won't crash and the activity squares are of different color.

Yeah, I know. Facebook is so last season. But since I was forced to use it, I created a mIRGGI group. Join in if you want to!

Version 0.59 is out. The only change is a fix to the Latin2 encoding. You don't need to update if you don't use it.

Note: The installer may say it's 0.56 or 0.57 but when starting it'll say 0.58.

I've released version 0.58 now. A few fixes:

• Added /wii <nick> to be /whois <nick> <nick>
• Changed some server messages to be a lot clearer
• Idle time in /whois is shown in weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds, not just as a number jumble
• Writing to a moderated channel without voice shows the error message in the correct window
• In lists (nick etc) left/right should jump 10 names forward/backward
• Settings should be saved better when changing things on multiple tabs
• Latin2 encoding added

So, a bit more things this time. Hope you like it!

And you can add the most annoying bugs/important feature requests to this message so I can check if they can be done soon.

(The crash with Join channel on menu is annoying, but I can't reproduce it. I'm also trying to find some other problems that have been reported)

Didn't have time to do more than backup/restore settings (copies mirggi.ini to/from the root of the memory card) and the fix for the NickServ crash. I'll check the other bug reports etc soon.

So, I said I haven't forgotten thee, and it's true. I've finally found some time to fix at least a couple of bugs and implement some features.

There were two places where mIRGGI could crash when receiving an empty message. At least NickServ on freenode did this and this is now fixed.

Also I'll add the long-awaited feature: backup/restore of settings. In the next version you can copy the settings to the root of the memory card and also restore them from there. This way you don't have to lose all settings if you have to reinstall mIRGGI, or you want to transfer settings to another phone!

Some other things will probably also get done, but we'll see tomorrow. In the morning I have an MCP exam, but after that I should have some time to do things. So just wait for 24 hours or so and you'll get it :)

I haven't responded in a while here, that's just because I've been totally busy with other work. I'll try to get a newly signed version of the application on the site soon, it might require removing the old before installing, but that's not a problem for first-time installers.

I hope I'll get also some fixes and new features done soon, but I can't promise anything at the moment :(
